Zahraa Alfatlawi epitomizes “Yes, and” when it comes to her present, her future, and how she can be of service. A senior at Central High School, where she is President of the Honors Marketing Program and Chief Science Officer,  Zahraa is also a �������ý��Ƶ dual-enrollment student who participates in the Achieving College Education (ACE) program, where she has earned a whopping 42 college credits from her two years in the program.  

“Hands on”, “cool”, and “informational” were some of the ways 137 young women from Phoenix Union High School District described the faculty-led activities during the Hermanas Conference on February 24, 2023 at �������ý��Ƶ (�������ý��Ƶ). Funded by the APS Foundation, the Hermanas conference seeks to increase the number of underrepresented female students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and impact the diversity of the STEM workforce.

�������ý��Ƶ (�������ý��Ƶ) student and Student Public Policy Forum (SPPF) member Amy May is partnering with El Mercado Thrift Store to host a clothing drive. Proceeds from the store support families with basic needs, especially children whose parents are incarcerated.

Three of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) all-stars are honored with multiple awards for their outstanding academic performance, community service, and leadership.

Dr. Soller mentored and inspired countless students, many of whom have succeeded in theater and the arts. His passion for enriching the lives of others through art and service was evident throughout his life, and lives on in those who were lucky enough to know and work with him. 

Although the housing crisis has made housing unfathomable for millions of Americans, the housing crisis is felt acutely by community college students. In 2020, 52% of all community college students reported experiencing housing insecurity, where housing often costs more than tuition. Housing insecurity includes unaffordable housing, poor housing quality, crowding, and frequent moves.

Ashley opens the door and welcomes students as they cross the hardwood floor to retrieve plum-colored yoga mats, bright blue yoga blocks, multi-colored bolsters, and gray wool blankets from the tall metal shelves along the white block wall. Ashley carefully unpacks the crystal singing bowls from their protective case and instructs students in her soothing voice: "Take what you need."

�������ý��Ƶ (�������ý��Ƶ) is scheduled to launch two bachelor's degree programs, in Information Technology and Public Safety Administration next fall.

�������ý��Ƶ Women's Soccer Team claimed the program's second NJCAA Division II national title at the championship series in November. Phoenix was the No. 2 seed going into the tournament, beating No. 11 South Suburban and No. 7 Southwestern Illinois for a spot in the semifinals. The second semifinal saw No. 2 Phoenix get past No. 4 Northwest Mississippi 2-0 to set-up a rematch of the 2020 NJCAA DII Women's Soccer Championship match with Holmes. 

By age eight, Kimberly Britt had been beaten, knocked to the floor, and kicked in the ribs by a man wearing steel-toed boots. He was angry; so very angry.  She had also experienced sexual abuse.  And, sometimes, the only food in the house was her baby sister’s cereal, which as Kimberly recalled, tasted like cardboard.
